Memorial Day at Aiea 1949:  Dedication of the World War II Memorial
So that we should never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, a memorial plaque with the names of Aiea's World War II dead was placed in front of the bank and post office building at the intersection of Aiea Heights Drive and Moanalua Highway.  Boy Scouts Bruno Oroyan holds the flag, Generoso Gascon is to his right, and Raymond Garcia is to his left.

The memorial was moved to the Aiea Library when the post office building was replaced by another structure and is barely legible now.  The names on the plaque appear in the image at left.
